Hervey Bay Youth Justice Service Centre; Youth Justice; Region – Sunshine Coast and Central – Youth Justice; Pialba The role of Program Development Officer is to provide support and services to young people and their families including the development of programs and services that meet individual client needs. The role is also required to facilitate communication between Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support staff and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to enhance service delivery and court outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in order to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in contact with the youth justice system. As Program Development Officer, you will specifically: Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Organise and facilitate various relevant group programs for youth justice clients. Develop, deliver and support the provision of local programs and services consistent with case plans in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, strategic priorities, statutory delegations, department policies, procedures and contemporary best practice. Maintain knowledge of contemporary trends, practices, funding initiatives and service delivery options to ensure the delivery of best practice youth justice programs and services. Consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in relation to the development and maintenance of services for young people subject to youth justice interventions. Facilitate communication between youth justice staff and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure programs and services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are culturally appropriate. Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering programs and services to clients. Develop and maintain a relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people and services.
