Project Manager - BESS| Brisbane About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a dynamic team working on the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects across solar, wind, battery storage (BESS), hydrogen , and emerging technologies. Based in Brisbane , this role offers the chance to lead and manage a high-performing project engineering team , overseeing technical design, feasibility assessments, construction, and commissioning . You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive the successful execution of renewable energy projects, ensuring technical excellence and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Project Management Lead and manage the technical engineering team to deliver high-quality renewable energy projects. Foster a positive team culture , providing mentorship and professional development opportunities. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget , efficiently delegating tasks and managing workloads. Project Development, Construction & Operation Oversee technical design, feasibility assessments, and project optimisation . Develop and manage technical specifications for equipment supply, EPC, O&M, and grid connection. Manage engineering reviews , ensuring compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards . Supervise EPC contractors, consultants, and site audits during construction, commissioning, and operation. Provide technical evaluations for site development and asset acquisitions . Industry & Market Knowledge Stay up to date with technology advancements, supplier developments, and market trends . Identify opportunities to integrate new technologies and maintain competitive project designs. Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and industry stakeholders . Compliance & Risk Management Ensure projects comply with regulatory, legislative, and safety requirements . Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle. Support development applications and approvals with technical inputs, layouts, and specifications . Stakeholder & Business Development Liaise with internal and external stakeholders , including contractors, consultants, suppliers, and regulators. Support business development teams in assessing new project opportunities and partnerships. Negotiate technical scopes of work and contract terms with consultants, contractors, and suppliers . Document Control & Management Maintain clear documentation, change control, and filing processes for technical records. About You To excel in this role, you will need: Essential: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical). 5-10 years of experience in project engineering or electrical engineering. Experience in renewable energy project development, design, and construction (solar, wind, BESS). Strong team leadership and project management skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD, energy yield modelling (solar/wind), and GIS software . Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills . Desirable: A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, Chartered Engineer). Experience in SCADA, protection systems, electrical design, and metering .
