Project Manager, Customer Change and Readiness (Metro Tunnel Project) Department of Transport and Planning Applications close Thursday 13 March 2025 at 11.59PM Overview Work type: Full Time - Fixed Term Salary: $134,593 - $180,115 Grade: VPSG6 Occupation: Other Location: CBD Reference: 6814About the Role This is a Fixed Term Position until March 2026 The Project Manager, Customer Change and Readiness (Metro Tunnel Project) is responsible for managing the project schedule for DTP’s communications and customer experience activities to support the opening of Metro Tunnel. This project will support the critical updates of digital and physical information required to help communities plan and navigate their journeys with the introduction of new stations and interchanges. This role works with core Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) team members and Transport agencies to oversee and plan critical elements and outputs required to achieve Day 1 operational readiness and beyond. Responsible for scheduling the defined program deliverables and critical milestones required across customer communications channels to articulate the broad body of work required to meet success. Management and control of changes to the schedule, budget, confirming impact to milestones, deliverables and team capacity. Participate in strategic planning across broader MTP program to ensure any deliverables are aligned or amended as required. Identify and mitigate risks issues, to ensure timely resolution of project issues and capture continuous improvement opportunities. Establish, maintain, and influence successful working relationships with key stakeholders including internal partners, franchisees and other external parties to ensure the successful delivery of operational readiness activities. Provide subject matter expertise on operational readiness for delivery, with a focus on customer experience and outcomes, scope documentation, process improvement and a focus on customer experience information. Provides expert communication updates / governance reporting to senior stakeholders across the transport industry, advising of critical status and matters arising from implementation of services to relevant forums. Support initiatives to be handed over seamlessly to delivery teams including internal and franchisees. In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities. Key Selection Criteria The ideal person will demonstrate accomplished project delivery skills, translating strategies into effective programs that achieve outcomes. This includes establishing governance frameworks with clear success measures, defined roles, and robust risk management to ensure project success. Effective communication skills are essential, with the ability to prepare and deliver logical, concise presentations tailored to various audiences, enhancing understanding through appropriate media channels. Interpersonal skills are key to this role, requiring the ability to understand diverse perspectives, recognise stakeholder needs, and adapt communication to meet audience preferences. The role involves maintaining stakeholder relationships by proactively addressing issues, monitoring satisfaction, and connecting stakeholders with relevant areas to maximise value. The successful candidate will apply sound business and commercial acumen, ensuring operational efficiency and effective management of external vendors. This includes a clear understanding of engagement terms and holding third parties accountable for delivering agreed outcomes. An understanding of the political and organisational context is also crucial, enabling the Project Manager to navigate internal pressures and align initiatives with the Department’s strategic objectives and culture. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage complex change initiatives, foster collaboration, and deliver outcomes that enhance customer readiness while supporting the Department of Transport and Planning’s broader goals.
