The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.What Will You Do? In this role, you will be an integral and valued member of a highly skilled and high-performing Care and Protection/Family Law Practice. The Senior Administration Officer manages admin teams, provides training, ensures accurate data entry, oversees task allocation, and supports solicitors. They collaborate with colleagues, manage systems impacting legal practices, and set performance goals for the team.Each Day, You Can Expect To Manage the administration teams and paralegals within the Care & Protection/Family Law Practice. Provide training and support for administration officers and paralegals. Ensure data from both programs is accurately recorded into CMS database and spreadsheets. Oversee the allocation of intakes and tasks and ensure conflict checks are completed. Provide high level of secretarial support to solicitors. Manage systems and technology which have a significant impact on the legal practice, including adapting to and enhancing the use of these systems. Who Are We Looking For? You are a highly skilled and motivated individual with a thorough understanding of the cultural, social, and historical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will be able to demonstrate:Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a legal practice. Experience coordinating and managing staff. Capacity to behave in a culturally appropriate manner. Proven computer systems skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook and typing skills with a minimum of 35 wpm. Excellent phone manner and culturally appropriate communication skills when speaking with clients. Why Join Us?
