Senior Communications and Policy Officer The UWA Public Policy Institute (UWA PPI) is a pan-university initiative launched in 2018. The Institute aims to maximise the translation of the University’s research to policy impact in Western Australia, Australia, the Indian Ocean region and the Indo-Pacific. The long-term goal is to position UWA as a go-to university for governments, corporates and NGOs in Western Australia, Australia, the Indian Ocean region and the Indo-Pacific, as the countries in this region continue to grow in influence and in importance to WA and to Australia. About the opportunity Lead strategic communications and engagement, and contribute to policy research. Build and maintain relationships with UWA academics, government, businesses, NGOs, and media to enhance UWA’s public role. Oversee office operations, events, publication production, and planning and outreach. About you Relevant tertiary degree in public policy, politics, and/or international relations or other cognate policy-related areas (e.g. economics, history, communications/media). Extensive professional experience in a public policy/policy research environment in the public, private, NGO or academic settings with an ability to undertake policy research and analysis using qualitative and/or quantitative methods and software packages. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in strategic communications via social media, website design, graphic design, videography, and podcasting. Ability to initiate, plan and lead engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders of multiple levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience of writing/editing a mix of policy, research and media publications.
