This is an outstanding opportunity for a driven tax leader to join a dominant market-leading organization as 2IC to the Head of Tax. The Challenge A critical member of the finance senior leadership team, the Senior Tax Manager Compliance will oversee the group's tax compliance, risk management, and reporting. Alongside the Head of Tax, the position has responsibility for ensuring the group’s tax obligations are met in line with the business's tax risk appetite by ensuring frameworks are effective and risks are mitigated. The clear 2IC to the Head of Tax, the position is pivotal in further development and enhancement of the tax function. Specific responsibilities include: Ensure timely and accurate tax reporting and compliance, including corporate income tax, indirect tax, GST, and employment taxes. Assist with the resolution of tax reviews, audits, investigations, and litigation with revenue authorities. Develop and update tax policies, procedures, and controls to ensure operational effectiveness of the tax governance framework, including periodic testing of controls and working with internal audit. Develop and foster key business relationships with the finance ELT and external advisors. Stay ahead of legislative changes, collaborating with external advisers to ensure sustainable tax positions and implementation of appropriate internal controls and processes to ensure compliance. Partner with finance leaders, treasury, legal, and commercial teams to support tax compliance and reporting deliverables and ensure the tax team provides effective tax advice. Provide sound tax advice on material commercial matters including contract reviews and tenders, acquisitions, divestments, and corporate structure changes. Develop and maintain strong relationships with revenue authorities, industry bodies, and external advisers. Drive process improvement and efficiencies. Lead and develop a high-performing medium-sized team. The Expertise Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following: CA/CPA qualified, most likely with an initial grounding at PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, or EY, with proven additional experience within a large corporate tax function. A distinguished Senior Manager/Director currently within a Big4 corporate tax team supporting large complex ASX/MNE clients will possibly be considered. Extensive experience in tax compliance and tax accounting, including strong tax-effect accounting skills, corporate tax technical skills, and good knowledge of indirect and employment taxes. Experience embedding transformation through either process improvement, automation, or outsourcing. Exemplary staff leadership and development experience. Capable of managing complex tax issues, including group company tax risk. Strong commercial acumen. High achievement drive, committed to outcomes, who thrives in a dynamic environment. Outstanding communication skills to work effectively with the executive leadership team and external parties, including revenue authorities.
