Specimen Reception - Customer Care Operator Join to apply for the Specimen Reception - Customer Care Operator role at Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) Role Type: Part time (4 days a week), 12-month contractSalary: $67,252 - $74,251 p.a plus super (pro rata) The Opportunity The Customer Care Operator will sit within the Specimen Reception area of the Customer Care Group. They will be required to take on ownership of all specimens received at VCGS, ensuring that they meet VCGS & NATA requirements as detailed in the Specimen Reception Policy & Procedure Manuals. The core duties of this role will include but not be limited to: Triaging of specimens by sample and test type, accurately rapid registering samples in our LIMS system, labelling and delivery of samples to VCGS laboratories. Dealing with internal & external enquiries via email and phone. Regularly calling external laboratories and medical offices to resolve problems. Participating in an additional duties roster of troubleshooting, performing add on tests, and other admin tasks. This role is 30.4 hours/week (4 days) , with fixed Mondays and Tuesdays and flexibility for the other two days. We may also consider 0.8 FTE over 5 days for the right candidate. A future transition to full-time may be possible. Your Responsibilities Include Ability to work between the hours of 0930 to 1830 Responding to telephone enquiries and/or directing calls as required Accepting, processing, sorting and distributing medical samples as they arrive at the laboratory Assisting in training other staff members in your designated responsibilities Operating and maintaining basic laboratory equipment as required Adhering to the pathology quality system requirements What We Need From You Certificate or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent desirable A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a NATA accredited high through-put pathology specimen reception Ability to work independently or within a team as required Ability to work to a high standard of accuracy as is required in a diagnostic laboratory Ability to manage time effectively, problem identify and solve, prioritise tasks/workload For full viewing of responsibilities and requirements please refer to the position description.
