About Us Centacare’s Care and Support Services provide a range of services, including Day Options Programs and 24/7 Supported Accommodation Services across Adelaide and Whyalla. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Team Leader (Disability Services) to join us in a permanent position based at our Whyalla Supported Independent Living (SIL) house. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality direct care services to our clients and supporting them in achieving their personal goals, maximising independence, and actively participating in the community, while leading and mentoring a team of support workers. About You We are seeking a highly experienced individual from within the disability services sector (or similar), who has either led a team of support workers or taken on senior/supervisory duties in a similar SIL environment. Your genuine passion for empowering individuals with disabilities will shine through as you assist them in achieving their goals and fostering the development of new skills. You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, that will enable you to provide clear direction to support workers with daily activities, and to support and enable our clients to access services in the community. Additionally, you will play a key role in working closely with the client’s family members and guardians to ensure that the client’s care needs are met and to enhance their quality of life. Key Responsibilities Lead an experienced team of Disability Support Workers to provide high-quality care and support to clients. Oversee day to day activities within the home to ensure that clients are supported with daily living tasks, personal care, and community participation. Provide ongoing support and mentoring of staff, to ensure that our clients receive the best care possible that is in line with Centacare policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with clients, their families, and other service providers to achieve client goals. Take responsibility for the compliance requirements, in line with NDIS standards and quality assurance requirements. Transport clients safely, either in a Centacare vehicle or your own, complying with the Centacare Grey Fleet Vehicle Contract. Work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and overnights, as needed. Essential Qualifications & Skills Minimum Certificate IV in Disability Services or similar. Demonstrated experience supporting clients with complex health and behavioural needs. Demonstrated experience in supervising person-centred practice. Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with a wide group of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for participants. Experience managing, leading, and supervising staff. Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check. Valid NDIS Worker Check. Valid First Aid Certificate & CPR. Completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission e-Learning modules: New Worker NDIS Induction Module and NDIS Worker Orientation Module. Valid Australian Driver's Licence. Willingness and availability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts. Ability to comply with Covid-19 vaccination requirements. Desirable Qualifications & Experience Degree in Disability, Developmental Education, Health, or similar. Experience with providing coaching or mentoring of staff and ideally undertaking performance management discussions with team members with the support of management. What's in It for You? Hours of Work This role will be offered on a permanent, part-time basis, with working hours to be negotiated with the successful candidate (approximately 30 hours per week). It will require you to complete three administration shifts between Monday and Friday during business hours. These shifts will be on Monday and Wednesday, with one additional day to be negotiated. You will also be scheduled for Disability Support Worker shifts, ensuring regular direct interaction with both our clients and team members. The days and times for these shifts will be negotiated as well. We require the successful candidate to be flexible with their availability and committed to working across a flexible 24/7 fortnightly roster. This role will also require you to manage a 24/7 on-call phone for one week every four weeks (on-call allowances will be paid in accordance with the Award).
