Part-time (0.8 FTE), Ongoing / Position: 212109 Location: Cranbourne Chisholm is seeking an experienced Technical Officer for the Environment team. Chisholm’s culture of Belonging and Inclusion strives to promote a self-regulating culture that enhances the experiences of our employees, students and communities.ABOUT THE ROLE As Technical Officer, your key responsibilities will include the following: Provide technical support, advice and recommendations to ensure the effective operations of teaching programs within the Environment business area (Horticulture, Landscape Construction and Bricklaying). Allocate materials and resources, maintain outdoor teaching spaces, machinery and equipment to support the delivery of programs, drawing upon qualifications, knowledge and experience gained from the trades sector. Ensure correct occupational health and safety practices and procedures are maintained in accordance with legislation. Liaise regularly with other technical officers to maintain standards and consistency of system operations. Liaise with suppliers to determine the best and most economic products to be purchased. Organise the repair of equipment and maintain systems and records that comply with auditing regulations. ABOUT YOU You will be able to conduct hands-on technical activities using tools such as skid steer and excavator, as well as having computer skills across systems including Microsoft and Adobe C.S. In addition, you will be able to meet the physical requirements to perform required duties.A sound understanding of occupational health and safety issues in relation to materials, equipment, and practices, as well as experience in stock control, basic financial control and data collection, is able to be demonstrated by you.Crucial to your success will be your ability to work in a team whilst also being able to work independently using your critical thinking skills. You will also have a focus on detail and use your interpersonal and networking skills to maintain good customer relations and service standards.Qualifications required for the role Relevant verified vocational qualifications in a trade at a minimum of Certificate III in the Horticulture, Landscape Construction or Bricklaying sector; or substantial experience at a minimum of five years. Current Victorian Drivers licence Knowledge of machines and tools required for delivery in all 3 Sectors - Horticulture, Landscape Construction, Bricklaying.
