Transport Officer & Community Liaison Officer Gidgee Healing (‘Gidgee’) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, representing the health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the Northwest, and Lower Gulf regions of Queensland. We are committed to supporting Aboriginal communities’ own solutions to living long healthy lives; strengthen their culture; and regain their spirit. Our mission is to provide holistic and culturally appropriate health services, underpinned by a philosophy of community participation, and with a strong focus on care coordination. We provide a broad range of primary health care and aged care services, and we are now the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service provider by land area in Queensland. Our vast service footprint spans approximately 640,000 km2, including some 11,000 Indigenous people. Position Summary The purpose of the Transport Officer is to ensure the clinic is accessible for members of the community through the provision of quality transport services and to support the delivery of high-quality primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Mount Isa. Functional Accountabilities: Assisting patients with transport to and from clinic appointments; Assisting with vehicle maintenance; Delivery of pre-packaged medications to clients; Selection Criteria: A valid driver’s license with demonstrated driving experience, including knowledge and understanding of road rules. Experience in people transportation and demonstrated skills in vehicle maintenance procedures. Demonstrated ability to independently prioritise duties including effective time management skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritise patients in need of medical attention, with the support of the clinical team. A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues, particularly in the health area which are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Other Requirements: Satisfactory police check – no serious Criminal/Court record. Current Blue Card (working with children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card. Willingness to work flexible hours as required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
