Based in Castle Hill (NSW), Grace Children's Therapy is an established practice, serving the Sydney Hills District for over 17 years. We are looking for open-minded, creative, energetic, and innovative community coaches who will embrace the ethos of Grace Children's Therapy and provide support as part of our Community Action Team. The Community Action Program has been uniquely designed through a functional and engaging occupational therapy lens to enhance the experience and outcomes of the participants that attend our practice. Being passionate about changing the lives of children and embracing the complexity of the whole child is essential as this is the heart of our organisation. Be part of a team that values the essence of what is occupational therapy and the goal-oriented focus of achieving functional participation in the community. Within this role, you will be assisting participants to work towards independence and feeling a sense of achievement, enjoyment, and confidence as they are supported to learn and increase their participation. Our Community Action Coaches will be working with the purpose of providing support to the adolescents and young children within our service that have community-based goals or within our social group programs. The aim is to provide community-based coaching, working alongside our occupational therapist to facilitate opportunities and working towards meeting their goals. This could include coaching in the home, local community, shops, parks or playgrounds, attending our programs, or sporting and recreational venues. Skills and abilities: The ability to develop rapport with young children and teenagers. The ability to communicate and work collaboratively with our occupational therapists, parents, and caregivers. The ability to follow instructions and plans as set by the occupational therapist. Be prepared and able to regularly review goals with the occupational therapist. Be able to think flexibly and respond to the needs of the client. The ability to manage your time to meet the goals of the sessions. Utilise our platform to ensure record keeping and notes are completed and accurate. What you can expect: To be part of our Community Action Team. To be supported by our occupational therapists in reaching the clients' goals. To engage and be part of the wider team, including our occupational therapy team and support staff. For students studying occupational therapy, there is an opportunity to pursue a clinical pathway towards joining our team upon completion of your undergraduate degree in occupational therapy. Opportunities for learning and development. Gain new skills and experience. Essential criteria: A student currently studying occupational therapy is essential. Have values that align with Grace Children's Therapy. Have a valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle that is comprehensively insured. Have a NDIS Worker Screener (Service NSW) or willingness to obtain. Have a Working with Children Check (Service NSW) or willingness to obtain. Have completed the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission Modules or willingness to complete. Have a valid Police Check. Have completed your First Aid and CPR certifications. Willing to complete our onboarding process, including training requirements. Ideally, you would be available to work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week. What else do you need to know: This is a casual position. Geographical location is likely to be in the Sydney Hills district and surrounding suburbs.
