About the Opportunity The role of the Workshop/Operator Trade Manager is to ensure the overall leadership of a safe, efficient, and effective multi-skilled high risk licensed Trade group to support the Maintenance Program for Collins Class Submarines and supporting functions in accordance with business objectives. Ensuring the Trade team are meeting legislative requirements in accordance with their scope of work. In relation to Workshop management, the execution of the weekly Submarine Plan Of the Week is an essential part of the role, as an accurate plan of work is required making expectations clear with the correct sequencing IAW the Schedule to supporting functions within the business. The Workshop /Operator Trade Manager is responsible to be actively involved in monitoring the budget that is related to workshops and maintenance activities by reviewing all bookings and ensure they are correctly assigned against tasking’s on a daily or weekly basis. Communication with onsite contractors ensuring the correct prioritisation of tasks is executed as per schedule requirements is also a responsibility of the role. This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA. Responsibilities Ensure all assigned work tasks are done safely, to the highest quality and workmanship standards in a cost-efficient manner. Ensure all tasks are completed i.a.w. documented quality requirements. Ensure quality, technical and safety standards associated with the Production Trade and workshop are achieved and maintained. Ensure adequate resources are provided to the teams in support of submarine maintenance activities. Demonstrate strong engagement and proactive behaviour supporting a strong team culture. Deliver the Project on behalf of ASC and is accountable for ensuring that all tasks are accurately scheduled and are executed safety and efficiently. Ownership of the overall Workshop / Operations including critical paths, involved with the development of the network logic and recovery plans with the project team. Ensure all tasks are planned and integrated into the project schedule in an accurate and efficient manner and all tasks have been de-conflicted. Provides leadership and governance to all work planned to be conducted and is responsible to ensure all work is compatible and deconflicted prior to commencing work. Accountable for the planning and execution in accordance with a detailed pre-developed schedule. Accountable for the safe execution of required Submarine maintenance activities. About you Qualifications in Engineering, Management, a Trade, Cert IV Front Line Supervision or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of High-Risk Activities in the Operations / Workshop environments and legal requirement. Experience in managing/supervising a large multi skilled workforce in a shipbuilding, submarine, or heavy engineering environment. Knowledge of heavy manufacturing and defence maintenance activities, process and procedures. Ability to develop and execute scheduled work. An understanding of heavy manufacturing and defence maintenance programs and techniques. Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
