Salary package up to $188K (includes 15.4% super) The Australian Bureau of Statistics is looking to fill the role of Director of Workplace Relations in our People Services Branch. About the Director of Workplace Relations role The primary responsibilities of the Director of Workplace Relations position are to provide professional workplace relations and HR advice to senior executives that will support effective workplace arrangements, including enterprise agreements (ABS Enterprise Agreement and ABS Interviewer Enterprise Agreement), managing employee consultation processes, and ensuring relevant people policies/guidelines are maintained. The Workplace Relations Director also has management responsibilities for ABS’ SES Liaison Unit. Responsibilities of this role include: Interpretation/provision of advice on the application of the employment framework, including enterprise agreements, applicable legislation, and government policies such as the Public Service Act 1999, Fair Work Act 2009, and the Public Sector Workplace Relations Policy (highly desirable) Negotiating an enterprise agreement in accordance with the requirements of the Fair Work Act and Public Sector Workplace Relations Policy (highly desirable) Leading and/or coordinating consultation activity in a complex and diverse working environment Being influential and solutions-focused to strengthen and manage relationships with key departmental stakeholders and external stakeholders such as statutory authorities and employee unions. Management of the SES Liaison Unit. What we are looking for: Experience/knowledge in a relevant field and/or formal qualifications in Human Resources, including areas such as workplace relations and people management functions, code of conduct investigations. To be suitable you should have most or all the following skills, qualities, and experience: Demonstrated leadership capability and people management skills with the ability to set clear direction, think strategically, and manage competing priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate, and collaborate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to achieve priority outcomes. Proven ability to use discretion and sound judgement to manage complex employment matters and make practical and defensible employment and policy recommendations. Excellent written and verbal skills in translating and presenting technical information into plain English for a variety of audiences. Ability to demonstrate visible leadership and how this has contributed to effective change. Proven ability to engage with and advise on complex industrial relation matters and employment policy.
