About the role As the Head of Capacity Planning & Optimization, you will be at the forefront of shaping the strategic direction for store operations across the nation. You’ll drive resource allocation, strategic planning, and seamless communication across teams, ensuring every initiative is meticulously assessed, planned, and aligned before it’s brought to life. Leading the Capacity Planning and Optimisation team, you’ll be the key orchestrator, ensuring stakeholders are in sync and ready for successful execution. With your expertise, you’ll oversee the labour and workforce planning model, optimising every aspect of labour allocation to ensure it’s not only efficient but also fully aligned with operational goals and compliance standards. It’s a high-impact role where your decisions shape the pulse of operations nationwide. What you’ll do: Capacity Analysis: lead the strategic capture of activity requirements and manage inputs to assess volume and types of needs. Resource Planning: oversee the Store Operations activity plan, align resources, and communicate any issues to key stakeholders across Officeworks including planning resources according to the labour model, ensuring accuracy in activity data and costings, and optimizing resource use with the store operations. Capacity Optimisation: Develop strategies and initiatives to maximize capacity by improving activity planning and rostering, whilst also overseeing work scheduling to enhance resource efficiency and minimize downtime between activities. Performance Monitoring: Oversee performance metrics including capacity utilization, productivity, and service levels, taking corrective actions as needed, and track the progress and outcomes of initiatives and projects in store operations. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with senior leadership across Store Operations and Commercial teams, to manage the alignment of activity demand with capacity, prioritizing and optimizing activities. Communication: Manage communication for store operations relating to all activities planned per the capacity planning process. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with store operations and cross-functional teams to identify efficiency opportunities, develop business cases, and execute project plans aimed at implementing continuous improvement initiatives & achieving desired outcomes. We offer great flexibility working in a hybrid working model, working from our Chadstone Support Office 3 days per week, visiting our stores and the rest of your week from home. About you You’re a dynamic retail expert with over 10 years of senior-level experience in retail operations, store management, and strategic planning within the manufacturing and production landscape. A leader of leaders, you excel at empowering and guiding high-performing teams to achieve their full potential, and you thrive on driving transformation in large, complex organizations. You’re not just about managing processes – you influence and negotiate with key stakeholders, turning challenges into opportunities and ensuring the successful realisation of ambitious strategic goals. In addition, you will have: Sound knowledge of store operations systems and processes, with a demonstrated understanding of financial management and business drivers Strong commercial acumen and deep expertise in financial management, you’ve consistently delivered impactful results. Effective in building strong and high-performing teams through strong interpersonal and engagement skills Demonstrated leadership in values and behaviours, acting with integrity and fostering honest, open communication Tertiary qualification in business/commerce or engineering preferred, but not essential.
