As Head of Department - Teaching and Learning, you will lead the development of staff capacity in line with school and departmental initiatives, participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division, and develop the quality of teaching and learning at Thuringowa State High School. This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, from 22 April 2025 until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined. This starts with recruitment and selection. About the School Thuringowa State High School is situated in Vickers Road South in the heart of Riverway in the City of Townsville and opened in 1987. The school serves students in Years 7 to 12, predominantly from its neighbourhood suburbs of Condon, Rasmussen, Kelso, and Kirwan. Our students come from varied social, cultural, and economic backgrounds and we provide initiatives designed to cater for the needs of all students. The school has developed a strong tradition of providing its students with a large number of educational opportunities with an emphasis on development and extension of the individual. About the Role You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks: Lead the school department to develop, articulate, and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students. Embed socially just practices in daily school life. Set high standards for student and staff performance. Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
