To support this vision, the City of Greater Geelong has established a Strategy and Performance Department, a strategic hub tasked with driving the council's key priorities and advancing organisational performance. The S&P Department collaborates across all directorates to deliver seamless, systemic improvements, ensuring the success of vital initiatives. Reporting to the Corporate PMO Manager, the PMO Operations Lead is responsible for implementing and maintaining transparent, accurate, and embedded frameworks and processes for project planning and delivery. This role focuses on driving consistency and excellence in project management across business units through the effective application of the Project Management and Governance Framework. The PMO Operations Lead will develop and continuously enhance tools, templates, and learning resources to support successful project delivery. As a key communicator, this role ensures stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team, have clear visibility into project status, risks, milestones, financials, decisions, and benefits. The role also oversees governance forums, ensuring they effectively support projects, adhere to decision-making delegations, and address escalated issues as required. Additionally, the PMO Operations Lead will contribute to process improvement initiatives, refining reporting and governance practices to enhance efficiency and impact. The ideal candidate will have experience leading or working within a PMO, within a large, complex service delivery environment. A strong working knowledge of project management methodologies such as PMBOK, Prince2, and Agile is required, along with proven experience managing projects with complex governance structures. With a sound understanding of best practice governance and reporting, the candidate will also bring highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of reducing silos to drive outcomes and improvements at an enterprise level.
