Salary from 13 March 2025: $94,563 - $105,910 per annum, plus 15.4% superannuation Position Overview APS6 Senior Advisors work under limited direction to conduct complex and high-quality Human Resources (HR) services and provide timely and accurate advice to employees and managers. Senior Advisors coordinate and respond to complex requests and enquiries, handle escalated cases and provide support to junior staff. They are committed to developing expertise across various HR practice areas and have sound understanding of current business objectives and external trends. Senior Advisors may be required to manage a small team responsible for various HR functions, providing guidance and support and coaching when resolving complex HR matters. This process may be used to fill a number of Senior Advisor positions in People and Culture to support a growing HR function responsible for: Organisational Management Recruitment and Onboarding Culture Diversity and Inclusion Employee Conditions and Industrial Relations Workplace Health and Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Learning and Development Workforce Reporting Duties Provide advice and recommendations on complex issues and partner with clients to develop tailored and innovative HR processes. Interpret and apply legislation and policy guidance on a range of HR and APS matters, exercise sound and justifiable judgement when problem solving and making recommendations. Monitor the allocation of tasks and overall completion of work to ensure quality outputs, information flow and records are maintained, and deadlines are met. Supervise and assist APS5 Advisors with workload management including conducting quality assurance activities to ensure high quality service and support to stakeholders. Draft and publish resources for clients and stakeholders including briefs, reports, guides, policies and general information updates. Lead and drive HR continuous improvement projects from concept to completion. Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a large workload within a fast-paced environment, including monitoring that of a small team to ensure continually changing deadlines are met. Cultivating a high-performance culture by setting an example for peers to follow. Motivate the team through coaching and constructive feedback, including having difficult conversations when necessary. Strong understanding of HR Management through the employee life cycle including awareness of current trends and solutions. Ability to balance and align business needs with organisational priorities and direction, influencing stakeholders to adopt new and innovative strategies. Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills with an ability to interpret situations and escalate issues, as needed. Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to interact with stakeholders at various levels, including managers and executives. Highly Desirable Qualifications in Human Resources. Experience delivering HR services in the Australian Public Service. Experience or qualifications in Project Management.
