About The Role This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing through expert interpretation of industrial awards and agreements, for business units of Kelsian Group Limited utilising Deputy. This position involves analysing and applying award conditions, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, and providing guidance to the payroll team to ensure all employees are remunerated correctly and fairly. This position will also collaborate with People & Culture and management to address payroll-related queries and issues, ensuring seamless integration of award requirements into payroll systems and processes. What will you do? Contribute and provide advice as an Enterprise Agreement (EA) Steerco Committee member. Manage and administer Deputy, primarily utilised by the SeaLink Marine & Tourism division. Scope and co-ordinate implementations. Prepare RFI (request for information) work sheets. Design organisational system hierarchy. Undertake User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Prepare training documentation and checklists and deliver training. Provide technical & configuration guidance and advice as required. Liaise with third party providers such as Deputy or the relevant time and attendance provider i.e. Dayforce for K’Gari and 1RIVET. Provide solutions to workflow process and programming requirements. Ensure compliance with industrial underpinning instruments rules. About You - Who do we want to apply? We are looking for someone with an excellent understanding of payroll practices and their application. You will have exceptional attention to detail, strong numerical reasoning, and the ability to read, interpret and document employment conditions as set out in Awards or Enterprise Agreements. Your experience in payroll processing across various Australian industrial instruments and People & Culture related support, coupled with your ability to meet deadlines with high skills in written and verbal communication, will be key to your success. The successful applicant must also possess the following skills and experience: Demonstrated experience in a payroll processing role. Experience in the interpretation of multiple Enterprise Agreements, industrial instruments, and Awards, translating complex pay rules into system configuration. Time & attendance system experience and understanding. People and Culture liaison experience. Logical thinking/problem solving. Ability to build rapport and communicate with key stakeholders of all levels. Ability to work closely with third party providers who program the conditions into Deputy. Experience in Payroll Software Systems. Understanding of payroll and HR legislation and processes, including tax and superannuation. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
